This is another painting from my new book of paintings of the South Downs. It was one of a series of four paintings of different stages of a sunset near Petworth.

The combination of sunshine and clouds made amazing effects of light and luminosity as the sunlight was defused through the changing cloud patterns.

I had to work very fast to capture the ever changing effects of cloud shapes and sunlight.
